When I try to connect I get the following error "Port already open". What does this mean?

This error usually means some other device is using the modem (such as a voice/fax program or you already have a dial-up connection in progress) The solution is to terminate the other task. This can be done a number of ways but the simplest is to reboot your PC and try again.

When I try to connect I get the following error "ERROR 692"?

Windows Dial-Up Networking (DUN) and Remote Access Service (RAS) give error codes for specific connection problems. Contact technical support with the full error message and they should be able to determine the problem. ERROR 692 for instance means Hardware failure in port or attached device.
